[review] Lab series for men: Pro LS All-in-one face treatment
So today I'ma introduce to you all my new HG moisturiser that I discovered not so long ago while browsing the web. It's called the "Pro LS All-in-one face treatment" by Lab series (skincare for men). I will say now that skincare is mostly gender-neutral. 90% of my skincare stash is deemed for the 'female' market but the ingredient lists and the formulations for both men and female skin care are the same, regardless of what companies say.
Note: The name says "all-in-one face treatment". Don't mistake this for a serum as this is a moisturiser.
To clarify: yes, men's skin and women's skin are different, but in no doubt that a good skincare product regardless of what gender its targeted market is for, is no doubt beneficial for both genders.
Let me first explain that Estee Lauder owns the majority of the beauty companies out there such as Bobbi Brown, MAC, and Clinique. And voila! Lab series is also owned by Lauder, so that proves my point.
So, by building on the fact that a product laden with antioxidants is benefit to the skin, this product contains a great mix of good antioxidants that Lauder includes in some of their more 'expensive' products.
Ingredient list: Water, Butylene Glycol, Squalane, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Nylon-12, Sucrose, Hypnea Musciformis (Algae) Extract, Gellidiela Acerosa (Algae) Extract, Sigesbeckia Orientalis (St. Paul’s Wort) Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Laminaria Saccharina Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Peel Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Juice, Ethylbisiminomethylguaiacol Manganese Chloride, Acetyl Glucosamine, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Linolenic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Dimethicone, Caffeine, Linoleic Acid, Glycerin, Yeast Extract, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Potassium Stearate, Laureth-7, Nordihydroguaiaretic Acid, Cyclodextrin, P-Anisic Acid, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol.
The product is not heavily fragranced but do have a mild citrusy smell to it, that I don't find cloying. Unless your skin is ultra-sensitive that cannot stand fragrances in products, this is fine.
Why do I love this?
1. Because I'm hooked. I've gone thorough probably 3-4tubes of this now. Yes tubes. The 100ml one.
3. To repeat: it does what moisturisers does, hydrate.
4. Not as expensive as other top-end brands, but does what they do.
5. Comes in a tube. Out of all types of packaging, I do prefer tubes as I do not have to dip my fingers in. But I'm not saying that I dislike other packaging (as I DO have skin care products that comes in a jar) but I just find tubed-products to be slightly more convenient.
The texture is very gel-like although it does look like a cream. It goes on very sheer and the spreadability (I'm genuinely surprised that 'spreadability' is a word. But since there's no red line under it.. yay new word!) is good, thus a 1.5x pea-sized amount is good enough to cover the whole face + neck for me. Now this is subjective to everyone as some people may want to moisturise their décolletage as well and another factor is that if you pill lots of serums/essences/toners/ that are hydrating beforehand. Thus, adjust to fit your needs.
I use this as a night moisturiser as I use a moisturiser with spf in the mornings/daytime. The. Sun. Kills. Skin. (this is why you will never see me go 'tanning' *virtual faints*).
The PRO LS all-in-one face treatment moisturiser is available at Lab Series Skincare for men with 50ml retailing at £23 and the 100ml for £28. Obviously, the 100ml one provides more bang for your buck so I do recommend to go with that instead of the 50ml one. I read somewhere that the 100ml is limited edition as well but at the time of writing, it is available.
