What's this blog aboutMy attempt to make this 'about me' page as epic as possible will probably result in me sounding like a potato. Or a magikarp, if you've watched pokemon, cause it's life haha.
Hello! Konichiwa! Bonjour! Annyeong-haseo! Ni hao! Selamat sejahtera! (and other languages I don't know, heeeeyyyyy! ~)
*peeks out of blanket* *munches on muffin*
Oh hai there, Robert here. That's me up there in the gigantic picture.
I'm the owner of this amazing blog and I bid you welcome to my cozy den. Robert Chua (R.C.) blog is a lifestyle + beauty blog based in the UK with several months a year being in Malaysia, as I visit home.
All the contents on this blog are written by me, myself and I. No ghost-writers here nor is there anyone else writing and posting here actually. The blog was started as early as 2013, if I am not mistaken but truly became active post-2015.
I am a perfectionist of sorts. This means that most of my posts are usually as long as writing essays as I want readers (hey there!) to thoroughly know what I am reviewing or writing about. Main points are usually underlined in these 'essays' to make it more convenient for readers who are quick-paced.
R.C. blog is growing and improving everyday and hold ourselves to a high-standard. Hopefully you'll be with us every step of the way!
How did this blog came to be?
Robert Chua blog is a lifestyle + beauty blog. I post my reviews, thoughts, rants or anything lifestyle related such as clothes or even how to plant flowers (ha). In the future, I hope to post about my travels, experiences and things that I get excited about so that you guys can have a sneaky peek into my life. Especially food. Boy do I love my food, put a plate of chicken wings in front of me and you won't see it again.
I always liked anything beauty-related. Whether it was skincare, makeup or even fragrances, it just gets me hyped up. Coming from a family that has traditional values, I couldn't express it openly, so that is how this blog came to be. An open space to write my thoughts that I couldn't have expressed, because as they say.. "I'm a guy". Read my rant on this subject matter by clicking here.
Fortunately, in my opinion, as years go by, society is becoming more 'open-minded', so to speak. Men these days have their own product ranges by top brands. But, some still fail to accept change or still think it's weird. It's saddening actually.
Let's keep things in a happier-note haha.
This blog is a hobby so please don't expect daily updates (especially since each post is the length of an essay!), billions of pretty photoshoped pictures or whatnot that those who blog daily or those who consider themselves as 'professional-bloggers' do. As of writing I am a student. This blog remains a passion and it will remain so but I do have other priorities, such as munching on cookies while watching netflix all night, hahahaha jokes.
How I review stuff
For skin-care items, it's broken down into 2 categories:
1. Cleansers/ makeup
2. Everything else
For the former, I usually test em' for the period of 1-2 week. This is because it's usually very easy to know at first-use whether you like them. The rest of the usage is to test whether it breaks me out, cause rashes, etc. Make-up is more subjective.
The latter includes toners, serums, oils, moisturisers, sunscreens, etc. I always test products in this category for at least 3weeks or a month, minimum.
Any product that I feel won't suit my skin-type, I'll pass to a friend of a person I know and get their perspectives and thoughts on it. That way the reviews will be more accurate.
Reviews by me are based on my experiences.
This means that is a product is bad, it will either not see the light of day (whew..) or I will write an honest blogpost about it concerning its pros and cons.
Yes but can we trust you?
Well, why not? hahaha. My reviews will and always be true and honest. My thoughts cannot be bought. No matter if it's for a product, service, etc. We (read: I don't know if I should use "I" here because it sounds kinda pretentious haha) hold ourselves to a high standard.
Any products that are sent for editorial purposes or sponsored content will be noted or indicated on the post itself. The quality of the review will not be compromised.
I have a strict policy of giving out honest thoughts and opinions. It's confusing enough with all the PR messages and every "must-have"/"ermeygad-take-my-money" product out there so I hope that my honest thoughts and reviews will help others out there to decide on a product.
